Jefferson City, Mo. - The Missouri Department of Insurance today announced that Julie Lederer has joined the department as the appointed Missouri property and casualty actuary. Ms. Lederer will support the Divisions of Insurance Company Regulation and Insurance Market Regulation. The Notre Dame graduate previously served as a property and casualty actuarial consultant for Deloitte Consulting LLP in Chicago.

Ms. Lederer is an associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries. She earned a bachelor's and a master's degree from the University of Notre Dame in 2009 where she graduated with the highest academic honors of summa cum laude. The Kansas City native attended Notre Dame De Sion and was the salutatorian of her graduating class.

 "We look forward to leveraging Julie's private sector technical expertise and property and casualty product knowledge. Missouri consumers will be better protected with her actuarial oversight of insurance companies," said John M. Huff, director of the Department of Insurance.

Ms. Lederer will review and analyze actuarial issues as they relate to the regulation, supervision, financial examination and analysis of property and casualty insurance companies. She will oversee the actuarial phases of risk-based financial examinations, rendering actuarial guidance to the department team, reviewing policy forms and rate filings, assisting in the evaluation of reinsurance treaties, and evaluating and developing legislation, regulations and departmental standards on issues requiring actuarial expertise.
