Medicare open enrollment ends Monday
Eligible Missourians who have not enrolled for 2016, should do so now
Jefferson City, Mo - The Missouri Department of Insurance is reminding Missourians who are eligible for Medicare that open enrollment ends on Monday, Dec. 7. Seniors who have not yet made their plan selections for 2016 are encouraged to contact CLAIM.
CLAIM provides Missourians on Medicare and their caregivers free and unbiased help from certified counselors. Seniors can ask questions by phone or arrange one-on-one counseling by calling 800-390-3330 or visiting missouriclaim.org.
"The end of the open enrollment period for 2016 is upon us," said John M. Huff, director of the department. "Now is the time to make your plan selections if you haven't already done so. If you need assistance don't hesitate to contact CLAIM."
Counselors can answer questions about switching your Part D prescription drug coverage or Medicare Advantage plans. CLAIM also can assist Missourians with limited income to determine whether they qualify for federal or state help in paying for prescription drugs. Medicare offers the Extra Help program, and the state offers the MoRx program.
Consumers with complaints or questions about insurance can call the department's Insurance Consumer Hotline at 800-726-7390 or visit insurance.mo.gov.
