Local Government Ordinances on Insured Property Losses

Chapter 67, RSMo, requires insurers to pay local governments part of the proceeds for buildings that are substantially damaged to protect taxpayers against demolition costs if the property is abandoned and not repaired -- if the cities, towns, villages or first-class counties pass such ordinances.

Here is a list of the local governments that have passed such ordinances. The list is updated when a governmental entity notifies the department. Section 67.412 requires every city or county that adopts an ordinance to notify the department within 14 days after the ordinance is adopted. For cities or counties that did not provide timely notice, the date when the department was notified is included.
