What Will I Have to Pay?
(My Out of Pocket)
Your deductible. A deductible is the part (or amount) of the claim you're responsible for. Insurance companies will deduct this amount from any claim settlement amounts they pay to you or on your behalf. So if your insurance policy has a $1,000 deductible, that means you've agreed to pay $1,000 out of your pocket for the damage to your home.
A deductible can be either a specific dollar amount or a percentage of the total amount of insurance. There are special deductibles that apply to certain types of claims; some deductibles are applied to specific parts of your home, like your roof. You can learn about the deductibles for your policy by looking at the declarations page or the front page of your homeowners' insurance policies.
Deductible - Policy or Specific
Roof damage would be subject to the policy's all peril deductible options. We also offer other deductible options that include a separate deductible for windstorm or hail which could apply to roof damage.

How Will My Claim Be Calculated
RCV, ACV OR FRC:
The policy offers Replacement Cost, Actual Cash Value, or Functional Replacement Cost coverage that would apply to roof damage.
Options Determined by:
The roof settlement option is either selected by the policyholder, or it will automatically apply based on the age of the roof and the roof surfacing. Roof Replacement Cost Loss Settlement from Windstorm or Hail losses will apply for any roof age if the roof surfacing is tile, concrete, synthetic polymer, or metal hail resistive. Replacement Cost Loss Settlement for roof damage will also apply if the roof is 15 years or less and the roof surfacing is non-hail resistive or hail resistive. For roofs 16 years or older, Roof Actual Cash Value Loss Settlement from Windstorm or Hail losses will automatically apply at new business or renewal when the roof surfacing is non-hail resistive, hail resistive, or asphalt extended life. The Roof Actual Cash Value Settlement from Windstorm or Hail losses may also be selected by the policyholder at new business or renewal for any roof type or roof age. Functional Replacement Cost may be selected by the policyholder for eligible dwellings constructed prior to 1940.
Criteria For Settlement:
For roofs 16 years or older, Roof Actual Cash Value Settlement from Windstorm or Hail losses will automatically apply at new business or renewal if the roof surfacing is non-hail resistive, hail resistive, or asphalt extended life.
