Bail Bond and Surety Recovery Agent Licensing Application and Renewal Requirements
To qualify as a Missouri Bail Bond Agent or Surety Recovery Agent, you must:
- Be 21 years old
- Be a United States citizen
- Have a high school diploma or GED certificate
- Completed an approved 24 hour initial basic training course
- Pass the required examination
- Bail Bond Agent applicants will need to submit a General Bail Bond Agent Signature Form to be completed and signed by the General Bail Bond Agent under whose authority they will be working.

New Applicants
- Submit an application and pay the $150 licensure fee.
License Renewals
- Submit a renewal application and pay the $150 licensure fee. An additional $25 per month late fee will be due for any renewal application submitted after the expiration date of the license.

Continuing Education Providers
How to Submit an Application for Course Approval
The department has contracted with Pearson for the processing of applications for continuing education courses. Pearson uses State Based Systems (SBS) at www.statebasedsystems.com to submit course applications/renewals. Please follow the steps outlined below to submit your course for approval/renewal.
Step 1: Go to www.statebasedsystems.com. Select Missouri from the jurisdiction dropdown and click Signup for SBS for Organizations:
Step 2: Follow the prompts to create your account and log in to SBS for Organizations.
Step 3: Add your education provider licenses to your account using the Add Entity function. You will need the Provider ID and PIN identified above for this step.
