Rate Increase Filings – Health Insurance

Federal law requires licensed health insurance companies to send documentation to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services if they plan to increase rates for small group or individual health plans by 10 percent or more. Neither the federal government nor the Missouri Department of Insurance has the legal authority to stop a rate increase. But federal law requires the Department of Health and Human Services to determine and publicly announce whether the proposed increase is reasonable or unreasonable. Below is a list of Missouri-licensed health insurers that have filed rate increases of 10 percent or more for Missouri policyholders. If you are insured by one of the companies listed below, ask your health plan how you will be affected. Your rate change may be larger or smaller than the overall increase listed below.
